Default CSU campus

I have read, and been told that it is OK to carry with my CCW on CSU campuses. There is a small loophole with the exception of the gun free zone to someone who is issued a CCW. Is this really true?
What happens if it is noticed, used or whatnot? I know the first call is to my lawyer.

If you are a student or employee you need to read the code of conduct and other rules for the CSU.

Yes, there are exemptions in the school gun free zone act for CCWs.

I'm no expert on campus policies, but it looks like you'd also need to be looking for an exception to California Code of Regulations Title 5, section 41301, which states:
California Code of Regulations
Quote:
(b) Unacceptable Student Behaviors

The following behavior is subject to disciplinary sanctions:
...
(13) Possession or misuse of firearms or guns, replicas, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, knives, other weapons, or dangerous chemicals (without the prior authorization of the campus president) on campus or at a University related activity.
...
From a quick Google search, it seems that most of the CSU student policies copy this section word for word. You can always ask, but I think you can guess what their answer will likely be.

Having been through this situation I will relate my personal experience of what I encountered.

As a CCW holder you are exempt from the gun free zone and related laws. As a student you are limited by school policy. You must obtain permission from the university president in order to carry your weapon as a student.

The regulation seems to contradict the law but as a student you are subject to an additional set of restrictions as a condition of attending that particular campus. Post secondary education is not compulsory and by choosing to attend you agree to abide by the regulations. By all means you can request that permission bearing in mind that location is everything and that political fallout may result.

In other words you won't go to jail if made. But you also won't be going to that school anymore either. But then again you might be alive when you otherwise might not be, to protest the decision.

A women on campus alone, at night, lets say walking to her car, is exactly one of the scenarios a CCW is for IMO! YMMV

I know this is a bit on the rebelious side, but if my daughters were of age to have a CCW, it is exactly what I would tell them. The only exception would be if there were metal detectors. The schools just do NOT protect young ladies like they should.

I am sure most of the assualts are kept hush hush too. Every so often an article will come out on the subject. Usually the numbers blow you away.

The schools don't protect us. We have maglight cops. There are emergency poles. We are to run to them, and push the button if we are in danger. Then they light up. Wow! That is going to save my life.
Thanks for the info
